Insomnia is difficulty getting to sleep or staying asleep for long enough to feel refreshed the next morning. This happens despite having enough opportunity to sleep. There are a number of possible causes for insomnia, such as anxiety, a disrupted sleeping environment, or an underlying physical condition or mental health problem.

Nearly everyone has problems sleeping at some point in their life and it is thought that a third of people in the UK have bouts of insomnia. Insomnia appears to be more common in women and more likely to occur with age.

Insomnia does not have to be a thing you live with!  You can change your habits from being a non-sleeper to someone who sleeps well very easily.

The most common problem in young people with insomnia is difficulty falling asleep (sleep-onset insomnia). Insomnia can last for days, months or even years. An insomniac may experience:

Insomnia can adversely effect our eating patterns - we will often crave carbs to give us the energy to stay awake the next day, and also eat late into the evening because we cannot sleep.

Performance at work or college is greatly impeded in insomniacs as the ability to concentrate is diminished through lack of sleep.

What is Insomnia?

Insomnia - Symptoms and effects

We are all born with the natural ability to fall asleep easily. By teaching you relaxation techniques to help your mind slow down at the end of each day, hypnotherapy can seek out and address the root cause of your sleeping problems.

Hypnotherapy can also teach self-hypnosis techniques to improve your ability to relax, reduce anxious thoughts, and prepare your body for sleep.

In most cases insomnia can be viewed as a bad habit. Like all bad habits, with the help of hypnotherapy it can be unlearned and replaced by a good habit such as falling asleep easily and enjoying a good night's sleep every night.

It only takes between 2 or 3 one hour sessions to regain the sleep pattern you deserve.

Insomnia - How hypnotherapy can help

Hi Andy,

Thank you very much for the email. I have been sleeping very well! It's great! Forgot what it was like to sleep! The mp3's all work fine and are all uploaded onto my ipod ready to take away.

I will let you know how I'm getting on and will make it my aim to get into better eating habits for when I return so I have some good news for you!

Thanks for all your help... so far I am more than impressed! Will definitely be recommending you,

Shelley
